More wedding outfits

Several of you asked on my last post what I was planning to wear to my host sister's wedding. So, here you go. I've narrowed it down to two options, and I'm still not sure which I'll go with. I will probably end up bringing both with me and asking for my host family's input. I've never been to a French wedding before but I'm assuming the attire is similar to weddings in the US.

So, Dress A is the dress I wore to my sister's wedding. As a refresher, here it is again:

And Dress B is a sundress that I've had for years but that only just now fits again--it didn't even fit in March when my sister got married.

I'm torn. Dress A is a little more formal, and a heavier, lined material, while Dress B is more of a casual summer sundress. In fact, the weather may be a factor as well. The online weather report says that it will be in the 60s and sunny there, in which case I think either dress would work (the wedding is indoors), but really it's too far out to tell.

All opinions are appreciated! Which one should I wear? (It should also be noted that I could in theory wear either of the other dresses that I thought about wearing to my sister's wedding, though the first dress from that post is probably unsalvageably big for me at this point.)

  1. I think you'll look great no matter what you wear--both dresses look great on you. I am partial to the purple one though--the floral one seems a little bit young. Not that you're old by any means, but for some reason, I picture it on a teenager or a college student.

  2. I think both dresses are great options. Normally, I steer away from spaghetti straps because I feel they tend to make broad-shouldered people look bigger, not smaller. But, I'm not getting that vibe with your second option; it actually looks great on you. If you have room in your bag, not a bad idea to bring both and make a last-minute decision!

  3. I love both! The first one was my favorite for your sister's wedding, and the second one looks so perfect for summer. It's less formal but it's so obviously celebratory and happy. Can you email pictures to your host family and ask?

  4. I love that first dress and it might the one of the last times you get to wear it before it becomes too big.

But! I also adore the second. Especially with those shoes!

Bring both (as you said) and figure it out there.

I went to a french wedding in 2008. The dress code was the exact same as a US wedding. Have fun!

  5. I have no idea why, but I equate all things French with the color blue. So I vote for number two based on that and the fact that you can celebrate fitting into it! And just FYI, your legs are envy-envoking!

  6. Your legs? Amazing!
Do you know what kind of wedding it will be? Formal vs. casual? I think that's what I would base the decision on. So taking both sounds like a good idea to me!

  7. I honestly love both. They're both quite flattering on you. I'd wear whichever one makes you feel the prettiest.

As a side note, I'm nixing the shoes in the blue dress photo. That dress needs some adorable white sandals.

  8. You look fabulous. Just by the way. :)

I like the first option better just because it's more formal; they both look great but I'm a fan of dressing up big-time for weddings. Maybe the second could be a rehearsal choice?

  9. I like both but I think if you wore the second dress, it could use something light to cover your shoulders? That would dress it up just a tiny bit more.

  10. I vote for Dress B because I have the same dress! :)

  11. I like both very much! You could wear a cropped, light sweater or a thin shawl thing to dress up #2 a bit more if the wedding is more formal.
PS - you have great legs. ;)

  12. Ha! Just read the other comments, apparently I am not the only one who thinks you have nice legs!

  13. I agree with the other comments - you have great legs. And I actually love both dresses on you, but I really love the waistline that the sundress gives you. You really do look great Jess, but more importantly your smile indicates you feel great too. Infectious!!! Have a great trip!!

  14. I like the purple dress -- it's more appropriate for a wedding :)

  16. 1) You look wonderful!
    2) Bring them both and decide once you arrive in France! I have a wedding on Saturday (leaving Wednesday night) and will be bringing at least two dresses from which to decide.

  17. Lookin' fab! I really love that first dress, so I have to vote for it again. I just loooove the style of it, and the colour of course! haha!

    Have an absolute blast!

  18. I of course love the first dress, but I love any opportunity to wear a dress I haven't worn in a while, or one that I've never worn. So I would go with the sundress. But I think it would be a good idea to bring them both, in case you change your mind. Lookin' good!!!

  19. I can't decide, they both look so nice on you. I am partial to purple, and that one is so lovely on you, but the sun dress is so fantastic it makes me want to wear it and I don't even really like dresses! I think it looks perfect for a spring wedding, especially if it is a bit chilly because then you can throw a cardigan over it. I think I just talked myself into option 2!

  20. Hmmm both look great on you! But I think that the purple one is dressier, so I would wear that. And I agree with previous commenters- you have great legs! I wish my legs looked like that!
