New hair!

Torsten is out of town for work this week (he gets back tonight, HALLELUJAH) and the whole time leading up to his business trip I kept thinking how much it sucked for him to have a business trip the week before we leave for a long personal trip, because he had to get all his work done before then and oh how terrible etc. etc. etc. But it turns out that it also sucks for me! Who knew!

Torsten travels a fair amount and usually the solo parenting thing is totally fine. But "usually" doesn't encompass weeks when I need to wrap up a month's worth of work, finish a final project and presentation for school, AND do a million things to get ready for a major trip. Poor Callum. He's been dragged on so many errands every evening that he hasn't even gotten to sleep until close to 10 p.m. most nights. He's been a dream, tolerating the wacky schedule and the constant in-and-out of the car and the weird bedtimes and all the rest without complaining or being difficult, but it's just... slow. And busy. And stressful. And it's harder with a kid because even if I'm OK with not eating dinner until 10 p.m., he is not, and I need to remember that instead of leaving at 5 p.m. for an evening of errands without a thought to food. Also my to-do list seems to be... growing? Somehow? Even though I cross many things off it each day? I'm really not sure how that works.

Anyway. We're almost there. Torsten gets home tonight, we will both wrap up work tomorrow, a lot of the errands and other to-dos will be done in the next day or so, and then we will pack and leave and it will all get done and it will all be fine. But phew. I hope that this particular back-to-back business/personal travel situation never occurs again.

I did make time to get my hair dealt with, because I'm growing it out but it was getting shaggy and problematic, and also since I'm growing it out I decided to color it in order to mix things up a little bit. I went with a subtle allover red/cinnamon tint with caramel highlights. You can't see the highlights very well in this photo but hopefully it gives a good overall impression of the color.

And here's a closeup where you can see the highlights better:

As always, my stylist did a "veil" for the highlights so they'll grow out nicely without needing touchups, and the color is "demi-permanent" so it should fade before I get obvious root lines as well. We'll see how well it grows out, but so far I'm very pleased. And an hour reading Us Weekly with foil in my hair was exactly what I needed in the middle of this crazy week.

  3. Looks great! You're looking mighty thin too! I'm glad to see you back regular blogging again. I'm SO jealous about your flexible baby. Although mine is only 5 months, he's not flexible one bit.

  7. Love the hair! I am intrigued by the veil thing since the upkeep is what keeps me from highlights. Must look into this. Hope you are doing well!
