We're all alive. Thriving, even.

You guys. I have so many posts I want to write: Callum's birth story, my experience with breastfeeding, maybe some more details about his name. And general updates about our first week with a newborn.

But. Well, I'm tired. I'm actually getting a decent amount of sleep, so it's not exactly that--it's more just a general feeling of being worn out. Which also goes back to the breastfeeding thing: we are working on my supply, and that means spending as much time as possible skin on skin with Callum, and when you are holding a baby round the clock, it becomes harder to do things like write blog posts.

So, I don't have a lot of details to share right now. Suffice it to say that while it's exhausting, it's not exhausting in the way I was expecting, and the good parts are so, so good. I imagine that I'll love it even more as he gets older and develops new ways of interacting and expressing his personality, but it turns out that I love the newborn stage too.

Because seriously, who wouldn't love spending all day with this little guy?

  1. I was just thinking this morning how busy you all must be, getting used to the new routines, and I'm so glad you're doing well! He's absolutely adorable. Do you think he looks more like you, or Torsten, or neither?

  2. Beautiful pictures. One thing I miss from the baby stage is "nap laps". I can't even tell you how many hours I sat on the couch with my sweet little boy snoozing in my lap. Now my sweet little boy is almost 50 pounds, and it would probably be awkward for both of us. :)

  3. Oh, he's just so adorable! I'm glad things are going well, and that you are getting support to try to make the breastfeeding work. Plus, other than lack of time for blogging, is there really a downside to getting to spend all that time with your baby? I think not. I miss it. Mine is now at the stage where he "snacks" and then crawls/cruises off to push tv buttons and throw things. I miss the cuddly baby stage.

  6. Babies who smoosh their faces into mama's chest, neck, belly, wherever are the best. Enjoy this time while it lasts!

  21. That top photo of him is my FAVORITE. It's so snuggly and perfectly captures the newborn, I think. Hope things keep going well for you! Also, I love the color of your Moby wrap!

  22. It's the last photo that gets me. The sweet trusting face, the arm curled under, OOOOHHHHHhhhhh I want another newborn. They are only tiny like that for such short blur. Enjoy!

Come to think of it Yay Mama, Papa and Baby!

  24. Oh, so happy to hear from you, and that everything's going well. I had to work pretty hard to get my milk supply up with Jameson, and it IS exhausting. Breastfeeding is hard work- arguably harder than labor, since that's just for a day or so at most, and breastfeeding is a serious committment. But so worth it! And all the cuddle time is so delicious. I love snuggling sleepy babies. Yours is so cute! Seriously adorable, and looks so much like you guys!

    CONGRATS!
