I want...

Let's change the subject to something a tad lighter, shall we? Because I need to snap myself out of this. And what better way to do that than through some online window shopping?

So, here are some things I want. And don't have. Yes, this is a very unfortunate situation.

1. Marimekko bed linens.

Because they are beautiful, even if they aren't purple. But the king size duvet cover alone costs $100. And we shouldn't really be spending that kind of money on sheets right now.

2. The Man in the Moon silver baby rattle from Tiffany.

To be fair, I don't want this rattle right now. I want it as a gift from Torsten when I get pregnant. I just think it's beautiful and elegant, and would be so meaningful. It's one of the very few things from Tiffany that I think is worth the money.

3. The Etoile bangle from Tiffany, in platinum.
I can't find the exact one on their website, but I tried it on in their store once, and it was amazing. It also cost $6,700. This is one of many things from Tiffany that I do not think is worth the money. But I love it.

4. The Shoshana Cutout Daisy Belted Dress

Apparently, I have expensive taste. But that's OK, because even if I could afford this dress, it would never fit in a million years.

5. The Saab 93 convertible.

This is our dream car and has been forever. But it also starts at $42,000. And we have a perfectly lovely Civic that cost about a quarter of that. And we don't need a second car. But ooh, do we ever want.

What are YOU coveting right now?

  2. I've really been wanting a Kindle, but we've been trying so hard NOT to buy books with our money--the library is just too close to us. Sigh.

I'm also craving a MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook--shouldn't that be good enough? =)

  3. You know you will fit into that dress, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even next month. But next year, easily!!!

I want another Honda Element, in the same color as mine that died last month (or was killed by a murdering Mazda SUV). But, common sense and adulthood prevailed and we're getting a Prius.

  4. I want some money so we can fix all the things around our house at once.

  5. I found these Burberry flats at Nordstrom and fell in love with them: http://www.couture.zappos.com/n/p/dp/57125930/c/3.html

I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on shoes, though. I would either spill coffee on them within two seconds of buying them or get stuck in a freak mudslide the minute I put them on.

  6. A masters degree that I don't have to pay for.

  7. I have been coveting these rings from Wendy Brandes for months now:

  8. You know your baby couldn't actually USE the rattle, right? :-)

We're saving for our vacation. Other than that, I don't have anything on my mind right now for potential purchase.

  9. I'm wanting an entire wardrobe by J Crew and a 2008/2009 Honda Accord in Metal Metallic. :)

  10. Hmm, coveting right now... Biggest thing is a debt balance of 0. Which we will have in December, God willing. But the more fun things:

-Everything I posted in my recent Maddie's Big Girl Room post
    -Pretty new bras
-Reset of my wedding/e-rings in platinum (after two years of wear, I started reacting to white gold so I wear them very rarely & miss them)
-Hardwood floors throughout the downstairs. DROOL.
-Oh, and how about just completing our bathroom remodel? That would make my YEAR!

(And you are so totally going to wear that dress someday. You deserve it and I can't wait to see it on you!)

  11. I love the Tiffany rattle and the bed linens. They are both so pretty.
I've been wanting a new straightening iron, but my old one is fine so I can't justify it right now.

  13. i want a personal hair stylist. seriously, i want someone to do my hair for me every morning, as well as some touchups during the day, so my hair wouldn't always look like ass. i've determined a professional tending to it is the ONLY way to accomplish this.

  15. I want a swimming pool. I will even settle for one of those blow-up ones at wally world but Hubby won't let me get one of those because he thinks it will kill the grass, look stupid, blah, blah, blah. I want a swimming pool.

  16. What a fun post full of eye candy. That rattle really is lovely! I'm coveting some new furniture. We are budgeting what we can and can't afford. The $2,000 console table was rejected in favor of being able to buy more pieces now!

  17. I love that rattle. If I had a baby I would get one. Except it's too pretty...maybe I would just hang it on the nursery wall. The baby wouldn't appreciate it as much as I would anyway.

I am coveting craft supplies. Paper. And ribbon. And card. And beads.

  18. I would loooove anything from Tiffany's but I can't justify spending my money on jewelry. :(

  19. I like the car, but the ad is the best! A convertable in the snow. I thought that Minnesotans were unique in that concept, but apparently I was wrong.

  20. Wow. You do plan a lot. Even the gift you want from your husband.

    Wow.

  21. I really really really want a fancy new camera.

  22. I LOVE that bedding. I always drool over it whenever I'm in the store. You have excellent taste, my dear! I am constantly wanting all the pretty, frilly, girly dresses at Anthropologie....

  23. Those bed linens are gorgeous. I want new linens as well, but can't bring myself to buy anything that will just get covered in dog hair anyway. Bah.

Hmmm. What do I want? Either a new bedroom dresser and side tables or some great old ones that I can redo in the spirit of design*spongonline.com

  24. I'm wanting a Kindle, a Viking range, and built-in bookshelves for the living room. Out of the three, the bookshelves is the only one within reach!

  25. i want i want i want all those things as well!!

  26. I want several tons of gray flagstone and some granite building stones, plus someone to come configure them into a nice patio and retaining wall in our back yard. Which right now is dirt.

I also want a shining new kitchen (not just a new kitchen, but a SHINING one).

In related news, I'd like a job, and also a new hairstyle.

  27. A wedding dress from Dolly. A Tiffany ring...one of the ones with the Tiffany stuff written on it -- within my grasp, but can't buy right now. A Kindle 2, but I already have Kindle 1 (which doesn't even work right anymore so I should send it in to Amazon) which was a gift so I should be quite greatful. And I want one of those new Mazda hybrid type cars that seats 7...I think it's the 5? I don't even know, but it's cute.

  29. I have the Merrimekko linens (different pattern). Good stuff.

  30. I love those linens!

I am coveting: an enjoyable job, a new and stylishly decorated apartment, painting supplies to indulge in my hobby of painting hideously ugly things that I'd never ever want to display but enjoy painting, and a gym membership that I don't have to pay for.

  31. Why doesn't $100 seem like that much for a duvet cover? Granted, every single set of linens I've ever purchased has come from Marshall's or Homegoods, but starting out at $100 seems very reasonable if you know you'll never buy it at full price.

I like a lot of Shoshanna dresses but, (ironically enough since she started the line for women who were big up top) my boobs never fit. Boo.

I like the car much more than the rattle. Probably because it's something I might actually use. :)

  32. Well, I started a list, but it ended up being embarassingly long and materialistic. A bazillion dollars ought to cover everything.

BTW, I don't know who told you different, but afternoon thundershowers are TOTALLY the norm in Colorado in the summer. I find it disappointing when we don't get one to cool things off. On the other hand, a big lightning strike messed up my best friend the teevee yesterday, so that was a bummer.

  33. Oh my gosh I want those bed linens. SO adorable. Oh and the car too.

  34. The saying goes that “There's a book inside all of us”, well here is a chance to let your book out. The wonderful people over at Blurb have given me 3 vouchers worth £30 off a Blurb book and to be in with a chance at winning just pop over to my blog.

  35. I love that bedding set! You could buy that for me and I could send you the purple and blue duvet cover I made for myself a few years ago! ;-)

  36. Soooo my advice would be to stay away from the Saab. I had one before my Prius and it sucked. I sunk so much money into that car and because there are so many problems with Saab, I didn't get that much for it when I traded it in. :-(

  37. I'd rather like to have a canoe on a day like today. Um, and a babysitter. :)
