No? I'm the only one? Well, whatever.
My point is, that's how I feel about this week and the dog. Like I've been counting down to it every day, and last night I couldn't even SLEEP I was so excited, and really, how can I talk, or think, about anything else? Because OMG DOGGIE DOGGIE DOGGIE.
As I've mentioned, we're meeting two dogs, but we are definitely leaning toward one. They both have names already; if we get the dog we're leaning toward, we'll keep her name, but if we get the other one, we'll change it, although we haven't talked about to what yet. But her name is not that nice for a dog, and also sounds similar to my name, so if we get her, it will have to go. For now (in the interest of... protecting their privacy? Or something?), I will not reveal the names. If we get one of the dogs, I'll tell you her name tomorrow.
But, here are the two dogs. I've posted pictures of them before, but really, you can't do that too many times, can you? And this time I've added summaries of their website descriptions. They both sound amazing and I KNOW it's going to be tragically sad that we can't bring them both home.
Dog A:
- 3 years old, yellow Lab mix, approximately 50 pounds
- Mellow and smart
- Loves attention, good companion for just about anyone
- Loves outdoors but is sometimes distracted by rabbits
- Gets along with other dogs really well
- No interest in toys or balls at all; likes people, training, and naps
- 3 years old, "absolutely gorgeous" yellow Labrador Retriever, approximately 60 pounds
- Extremely well trained
- Was considered for assistance dog work but was disqualified due to love of chasing cats
- Good family pet
- Can be picky about her dog "friends"
- Active dog looking for an active family
Did I mention how EXCITED I am for you? I think both dogs are lovely and sound like they have great dispositions. Let me tell you, though, that when we brought SoMi home, she had ZERO interest in toys. After about 6 months, she finally started to notice them. And now? Two years after bringing her home? She's a toy fiend! So, that one pup may grow into liking toys/balls/bones, but just needs a good nurturing home before taking interest!
ReplyDeleteThey are both adorable! I like # 1. They are a good breed. But, hey whichever you choose I'm sure they will love you as you love them.
ReplyDelete:) Yay!
Dog B's face makes me want to kiss it. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Tom week..I DO remember! I am so in lurve with both of those dogs so you have a win win! Yipee!
ReplyDeleteBeyond excited that today is doggy day for you! Both dogs sound great and I am sure you will get the one that is best for you. I cannot wait to hear about it! You'll tweet to let us know you got one of the them right? Please?
ReplyDeleteOh, Dog B has stolen my heart!! Those big liquid eyes... I would have to bring him home STAT.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he sounds like the dog for you. Active, family-oriented... I think you guys have a winner!
Dog A is also adorable, though. Can you have both? I love that you guys are leaning to large dogs - I love large dogs. No little dogs for me - I want mine to be big hairy protectors! :)
Yay for dog day! I love those ears on Dog A, but they both seem like awesome dogs.
ReplyDeleteYay! I am sooo excited for you guys! I remember how horrible to wait seemed once L and I decided to get a dog and then once we found our breeder and determined what day we would pick them up! It is sooo exciting!
ReplyDeleteThey are both gorgeous dogs, and obvioulsy I'm partial to lab and lab mixes! Dog B reminds me of my Dixie - gorgeous. And I love Dog A too bc those ears make her look fun.
My only concern would be Dog B where it says particular about dog friends. If you're taking her to the park and on walks and stuff, you don't want to be worried about a little scuffle, but if it was almost an assistance dog, then she's got to be great. Maybe she had just been nervous a few times or something.
Good luck picking! We had 4 dogs in front of us and we took two home. It took us over an hour and a half to decide!
Can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow!
i think dog a's face is just too lovable! i vote for him!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, they both sound fab!! I think you're leaning towards DogB.
ReplyDeleteDog B has me with those soul-bearing eyes.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to find out a new name. You should play a NAME GAME here if you choose the 'nameless pooch'. And we should all get to suggest, since you don't have anything firm picked out.
for absolutely no discernable or rational reason, i'd lean toward dog b :-) SO EXCITED to hear which one you'll pick! and find out names! and/or help suggest names!
ReplyDeleteDog B's eyes are absolutely irresistible. I've fallen in love with her and I already HAVE a dog who looks at me like that. That's how they get ya! ;)
ReplyDeleteDog A seems wonderful too. They are both beautiful dogs. I'm so excited that dog day is finally here! I can't wait to find out how it goes!
Yay, so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI would lean towards dog A. Dog B raises an eyebrow for me because it a)doesn't like other dogs (ditto to playintherain) and b) is an active dog. Working from home with a very active dog can be really hard, unless you have lots of time to deal with the dog when it wants attention RIGHT NOW. I think the mellow nature of Dog A sounds good.
I totally remember Tom Week!
ReplyDeleteI would pick dog A, because he looks like he's got some German Shepherd going on there, and I'm of the opinion that German Shepherds are the best dogs in the entire world - we have two, and they are sweet and smart and loving and amazing.
I do have to say (not knowing the gender of either dog) that I think I'm partial to male dogs. We have one of each, and male dogs seem to be a little more clingy and hungry for approval (which is a good thing). In packs, male dogs have to kiss up to the alpha dogs to stay in the pack. Female dogs don't. But I do love our little girl fiercely too. She's just not as easy as Argo is.
Also, Ceasar's Way is a great book to read.
Congrats on dog day!
Oooh ooh doggies! How fun! I like the first one only because it says he likes naps. I love to have a sleeping doggie next to me. Good luck, can't wait to hear how it goes!
ReplyDeleteHappy dog day! Whichever one you choose, I hope it works out for all parties!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think I like the 1st one best. They are both ridiculously adorable....and I am not a dog person at all, so for me to say it, it must be true! (...or something)
ReplyDeleteDog A appeals to me more, but I'm guessing you're unable to resist Dog B's sad eyes. :)
ReplyDeleteThey're both adorable! Good luck!!!
The second dog looks like it more than 60 pounds.
ReplyDeleteHappy doggy day to you! I think they are both super cute, but I'd have to got with pup A. I have cats, and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate being chased all day.
ReplyDelete"Loves outdoors but is sometimes distracted by rabbits-" this is quite possibly the best dog description ever!
Woo1 It is DOG DAY!! I was curled up with Buster last night, petting his silky ears as he slept and I thought of you and how you would be doing the same thing tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteI am leaning toward dog A. Mutts are my favorite!
I'm partial to dog A. Mellow and smart! Those traits appeal to me in all mammals. Also, liking to nap is always going to be a-ok with me.
ReplyDeleteDog B looks like a great one too though. Hope all goes well and you some home with a new trusty sidekick.
How exciting! I can't wait to hear how it goes. The picture of dog B just steals my heart. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI think you guys will go with Doggie B due to the "activity" component.
ReplyDeleteI can't choose! They're both adorable! Also, I can barely see straight I'm so jealous. "OMG DOGGIE DOGGIE DOGGIE" indeed! My friend asked if I wanted a dog or a boyfriend more and I really had to think about it (I still don't have an answer). You're going to be such a good doggie mom!
ReplyDeleteWell, from Twitter I know you already picked one, but I say A!
ReplyDeleteI'd go with Dog A. I've had dogs that were "particular" about their dog friends, and it was no fun. You don't want to be the person at the dog park or the vet holding frantically onto your dog's leash, in fear of a fight. (Plus cat chasers scare me. Well, that's mostly because I have cats, but...)
ReplyDeleteThey're both adorable, though!
I like Dog A. I like that he has better things to do than be obsessed with balls and toys. (Like naps! I'm a fan of naps, too!) Also, it amuses me that he's sometimes "distracted by rabbits." Aren't we all? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThey are both so precious! I'm excited to see which one you choose! I think I like the first one, but I don't think you can go wrong.
ReplyDeleteDog A and Ms. Lucy-dog would get along perfectly: she has a major jones for rabbits. As in, she chases & catches them, and then tries to bury them alive. Charming, no?
ReplyDeleteYAY for dogs! Your life will be soooooo much happier--promise!!!!! You won't even realize that you were missing something, but a year from now, you'll get it :)
I am worried to express any preference at all, because you might get the other one! Plus, I am going only on physical appearance, which is SO WRONG. But it turns out my preference is so split, it's safe. My first immediate preference was for Dog #1. But after looking at the photos/expressions for awhile, I am leaning toward Dog #2.
ReplyDeleteBoth dogs are sooo cute, but I have been described as utilitarian, so here are two reasons why I would prefer dog A: he is described as mellow and weighs less. Most dogs, especially labs, need more exercise than the busy modern family actually gives. Not that you couldn't provide the exercise, but be mindful of how much daily doggy time is necessary. I have to walk my 20 lb lap dog 1 mile each day to get him to mellow out by 10pm. Also, smaller dogs eat less, which is good if budgeting is an issue or could be in the lifetime of the dog.
ReplyDeleteHow can you possible choose between them?
ReplyDeleteSophie's choice. That's what it is.
