The professional wedding photos are here! And you all know what that means: Thanksgiving talk will have to wait until tomorrow, because I have to share! I tried to keep the number I shared here to a minimum so as not to be overwhelming, but you can see more here. All photos are by Rich Dutchman.
The girls got ready together, with the photographer. I did my own hair and makeup:
Torsten and I decided very early on that we wanted to see each other before the ceremony. It made more sense logistically, but we also wanted to share that time with one another. I can understand why some people choose to wait to see each other until the bride is walking down the aisle, but for us, seeing each other beforehand was the right decision. Here we are seeing each other for the first time:
We took photos at the National Cathedral (where we did not actually get married--a wedding ceremony there can be arranged to the tune of $20,000 for 45 minutes), just walking around their garden:
Then we went to the wedding site and separated until the ceremony. We didn't see each other again until my dad was walking me down the aisle:
I had worried about the kiss at the end, and how long and involved it would be, but it ended up just happening naturally and feeling very right:
Then we had a cocktail hour before getting down to the business of partying. The tables were purple:
The cake was delicious:
And the dancing was awesome:
So awesome, in fact, that we needed a break. Lucky thing the venue had couches:
I've already said this, but the wedding was just amazing. Relaxed, fun, emotional, loving, pretty, and generally very us. It one of the happiest days I can ever remember having. And we are still as happy as we were that day. We are very, very lucky.
