Do you all remember when I posted some wedding beauty questions awhile back, and one of them was about perfume? And then it turned out that the lovely Jonniker was a perfume critic, and when I found this out I emailed her for advice and she sent me 35 different perfume samples that she thought I might like?
Well, you might not remember that, but I certainly do, because it was an incredibly nice, generous, and thoughtful thing to do. But of course, I couldn't stop there. I painstakingly tried out those samples, one after the other, until I came across the perfect one (it's this, by the way, if you're interested).
Of course, I did what I always do and fell in love with the scent before looking up the price, and then I wanted to cry because it was, shall we say, a tad out of my price range. So, I sent Jonna ANOTHER email, ignoring the fact that she was, you know, pregnant and SICK AS A DOG and and was generally not in a condition to be hunting down bargain perfume on my behalf. But I asked her if she had a way of using her connections to find me a cheaper bottle, and she said that she did.
But of course, OF COURSE, because she is amazing and wonderful and beyond belief, she went WAY beyond swinging me a discount, and instead sent me a bottle of that stuff as a wedding gift. A beautiful, pristine, gorgeous bottle of what is, thanks to her, my new favorite perfume.
And OH YEAH, she did it while pregnant and trying to find a tenant for her house and also trying to find a new house for herself and then move, and dealing with her ceiling caving in, and COYOTES, and also, you know, PREPARING FOR HER BABY. Or trying to, anyway, amongst all the shit that has been thrown at her recently.
And not only that? But when there was some sort of delay in the shipping, she actually found the time to make a call, complain about the problem, and demand 2-day shipping to make up for it. While sitting in the rubble of her ceiling next to the gaping hole in her bedroom wall, I can only presume.
This woman? She is a saint. And this perfume? It is heavenly.
Jonna, thank you.

That is AWESOME of her. Wow. Some people are so cool and on the ball, I can't even believe it. Yeah for Jonna!
ReplyDeleteshe sent you 35 perfume samples? damn! that is nice. you've got to let us know which one is your favourite.
ReplyDeletewhere was Jonna when I got married?
ReplyDeleteHow nice.
ReplyDeleteThe internet is so cool like that. :)
I don't really wear perfume much...hmmm...
Oh you stop! It was my pleasure. Every woman -- EVERY WOMAN -- should have the perfect perfume for their wedding day. It's a very big deal! It is! You'll smell it FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE and think of that day!
ReplyDeletexoxo
That is truly a lovely story. I'm so glad you found one you like and that Jonna was your kick-ass hook-up. Congrats! And it's true. I didn't wear my perfume until the day of our wedding and now whenever I smell it I ALWAYS remember walking down the aisle, and my husband thinks of that day too. (Vera Wang's btw--LOVE!)
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that I didn't wear perfume on our wedding day? True story! Didn't even occur to me! Perhaps if I'd had someone as awesome as Jonna to help me out I'd have seen the error of my ways- what a truly nice thing for her to do.
ReplyDeleteThat is great! You will smell wonderful and look fabulous for your wedding! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSuper saint, really! Nice one!
ReplyDeleteNow that we're talking about perfume can I just say that Grass is back at The Gap? I do not wear scents. There is only one exception: grass. IT IS GLORIOUS. and 25% off as a welcome back present I guess. Go smell it and you'll know what I smell like.
I'm always worried that I smell too strongly. I spray some into the air, neck level, then walk through it. I wish I had an objective friend in this stupid state.
OMG, that is SO NICE! I am SO GLAD you have the perfume you wanted!
ReplyDeleteThat was super sweet! How awesome.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately paid the whopping $95 for my wedding day perfume. My rationalization for the purchase was: a. it's for my wedding day b. it is a huge bottle. I'm still using it! And it smells awesome!
That's so nice of her!
ReplyDeleteThe kindness of strangers. I have found it lives within so many wonderful bloggers.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm wearing the same perfume I wear all fall -- Lovely by SJP. Michael loves the scent and I suppose it's "me". Plus, I already own it so one less expense! :)
That is awesome and it couldn't have happened to a nicer person!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really nice of Jonna! What a sweet surprise.
