Purple golf balls are the key to heaven.

So, I finally have photos from our amazing girls' weekend in the country, as I will continue to call it, so it's about time that we talked about it, because it was amazing. I have great friends in DC, but there is nothing quite like that particular group of girlfriends from college, and we don't get to see each other nearly often enough. As it was, at the end of the weekend we had a tragic goodbye, even though we'll be seeing each other in just a couple of months at my wedding. I can only imagine how tragic the goodbye after THAT will be, since there may not be a set reunion date after that one. Although discussions are already in the works for New Year's in New York...

Anyway, on to the weekend. Some of these photos were taken by my friend Tamar; the others can be found, along with the rest of the set, here. First of all, the house was gorgeous:

And so was the property:

Second of all, the company was splendid:

There was much lounging around:

And sitting around enjoying the weather, though tragically it was too cold to swim:

There was even a rousing game of mini golf at a surprisingly well-designed course. Tragically, I didn't win. I don't know why, given how amazing my golf form is:

And yet, my results were shockingly subpar:

Also, I don't think you can tell in the above photos, but my golf ball was purple. There were actually TWO OPTIONS of purple golf balls, and it was a long and difficult decision-making process before I finally opted for the lighter color. But that pretty much set the tone for the weekend. Everything was great. It was like college without all the bad parts like writing papers and dealing with frustrating people. And also we could cook for ourselves. By which I mean that I was cooked for, which was LOVELY.

The point is, the weekend was amazing and I'm pretty sure that more weekends should be spent that way, except maybe not so far away from Torsten because that part would be sad. But the amazing time with friends was worth the temporary separation, worth the long drive, and worth the ensuing sleep deprivation. I am lucky to have these women in my life. If only they lived closer.

  2. That weekend looks fabulous. I wish my college girlfriends and I lived close enough to plan a weekend getaway. Though, these days, we'd need enough room for kids!

  7. I firmly believe that the color of your golf ball impacts your mini golf game. Maybe the darker shade of purple had the power...

  26. NICE! I, too, spend a lot of time in the 'trap' area at mini-golfing. I tell myself and others that it's because I don't want to beat the kids too badly. Mmm-hmm.

Incidentally, for some weird reason 'Du Wax Loolu' through my head like a little song all day. Sometimes I get fixated on little phrases like that.
