AND none of them broke in the mail.

A few months ago, I wrote a post where I asked for all of your help with the wedding beauty questions that I was struggling with. And you guys all seriously came through. But I have to say, and I can't imagine that anyone will argue with this, that the person who came through the most? Was definitely Jonniker.

You guys, this woman is a perfume expert. She REVIEWS perfume. She makes MONEY doing this. She knows her stuff. And she is sharing her expertise with me, free of charge. She OFFERED. I emailed her to ask for advice, thinking she might send me an email back with the names of a couple perfumes to try, and she wrote back and DEFINED the concept of "above and beyond" with her response.

To wit:

And a closer look:

Yes, yes that is approximately seventy hojillion little tiny bottles of perfume (actual number: 35), all neatly labeled. And yes, they are divided into two categories: 10 bottles that Jonna thinks I will ESPECIALLY like, and TWENTY-FIVE other perfumes that are mere POSSIBILITIES, mostly there for me to get an idea of other options.

People, this is ROUND ONE we're talking about here. This is what Jonna sweetly seems to think of as a jumping-off point. I START with this, I try them all, I tell her what I think of them, and she uses that information to find MORE PERFUME that she thinks will exactly suit my taste. And all of this so that I can have the perfect perfume to wear on ONE DAY of my life.

And yes, if you were wondering, I DID have to write to her to ask how to put the perfume on. So clearly, I do indeed require this level of hand-holding. It's a good thing I have someone so knowledgeable to turn to. And a good thing that caps lock exists, so that I can even begin to express how grateful I am to her for going to all this effort just for me and my ridiculous cluelessness. Jonna, you ROCK.

  15. Holy crap that's a lot of testing to do. Plus, it's hard because it's not like you can try them all on in one sitting. You'll mix the smells. Do you try one. Shower. Rinse. Start over? Or do you try one each day for a month? I mean, really. This presents a real challenge!

  20. That is so lucky. You are blessed with your bloggy pals.

Also, How FUN! I have been wearing the same scent since high school (*ahem* 10 mortal YEARS, dude) So maybe I should look into getting a new 'signature scent'.

  21. That is awesome. Can't wait to see what you pick! I went on a new perfume hunt a few years ago (apparently, my years-old Navy was NO LONGER COOL) and I couldn't believe how many fragrances smelled like celery to me.

I ended up choosing Deep Red and LOVE IT.

  26. Holy cow, that is AWESOMENESS defined. I love her, and I do not even know her!

Want to know what I think the best part of it all is? Once you find your perfect perfume for your perfect day, any time you smell it you will think of that precise moment in your life, the day you and Torsten formally meshed your lives together for ever and always.

Our sense of smell is so primal and it will ALWAYS take you back.

  30. I used to LOVE wearing perfume, then the allergies started kicking in and now? I can't even wash my clothes in scented laundry soap.

What really kills me (um, we're talking literally here) is when people drench themselves in perfume (or when guys use half a bottle of cologne). Whatever happened to the rule that scent was supposed to be discovered, not announce itself?

Anyway, I do hope you find the right perfume. I remember what I wore that day and on those rare occasions I can tolerate it, I take a little sniff and remember it all.

    Bliss.

  31. Hojillion is officially my new favorite number.

I like the perfumes from Fresh...they are light and smell delicious. I wear the Mangosteen.

  32. I think I'd forgotten perfume even existed since I had kids.

Wait---I take that back. When my son was 6 months old, I was getting ready for a family birthday party. For some reason, I borrowed my mom's perfume, which turned out to be a massive mistake. My son had a hissy fit as soon as I got near him. And pretty much for the rest of the night. I guess I didn't have that special "eau de mommmy" scent any more.

So I'm probably known as the stinky mom in these parts. Maybe one day soon I can reek of something other than mommy B.O. Until then, I'll live vicariously through your experiences....
