This has been sort of a week of purchases for me so far. For starters, thanks to Nic, who recommended these on my guest post over at Heidikins, I got my wedding shoes. And they are perfect and amazing and I can't believe I overlooked them myself. Behold:
Can you believe their wondrous, amazing perfection? No? Me neither. Even more amazing is that they are exactly the right height for my dress. Is there a better sign that they were meant to be? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
The second is my veil! I tried on a veil at the bridal salon when I picked up my dress, and it was perfect, but it wasn't available in any color except stark white, which doesn't go with my dress. So I came home, did some hunting on a few of my favorite wedding blogs, and found a site that allows you to custom design your own veil--and for cheaper than the original veil that I had tried on in the store. After a couple of emails back and forth with the owner of the company and a lot of time spent poring over photo galleries, I ordered what I think (hope!) is my ideal veil. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm very excited to see it. It should look something like this, but without the beading, and also not pink:
And the THIRD thing, which I am actually a tad nervous about, is a Nintendo Wii! Torsten and I have wanted one for ages, but I was annoyed at how Nintendo purposely limits supply, and didn't feel like hunting for one, and didn't want to spend more than the suggested retail price to buy one, so I didn't do anything about it. Then yesterday Snickollet posted about how she had bought one online at Best Buy at the normal, uninflated recommended retail price, so I clicked over there immediately while frantically IMing Torsten and snapped one up.
At least, I THINK I snapped it up. It allowed me to add it to my cart, and enter my billing and shipping info, and complete the purchase. It sent me a confirmation email saying that the order was processing and the item should ship out this week. But while I was checking out, Torsten refreshed the page and it said that the Wii was sold out. So it's possible that I sneaked through at the very end and we will get a Wii, but it's also possible that sometime soon I will get an email saying oh, actually we were sold out when you placed that order, our bad, your loss.
So far, though, no such email has arrived. I am waiting impatiently for my order status to update on their website so I can find out one way or the other, but so far, nothing doing. I'm only hoping that no news is good news.
But you know what is so cute? Okay, maybe I'm the only one who thinks it's cute, but I'm going to share anyway. When I asked Torsten if he was sure he wanted to spend the money for the Wii, he said, "Only if you'll play it with me. Will you play Mario Kart with me?" And yeah, I know that he was talking about a video game console, but it was just so SWEET and TOUCHING.
Is it bad that I'm touched by my fiancé wanting to play video games with me? Welcome to the Technology Era, apparently. But it was CUTE. IT WAS.

You know that I love my wii and the wii fit is the best thing ever! I hope you get it!
ReplyDeleteIt's not just you, it really is cute. And also cute, those shoes, amazing!
ReplyDeletei <3 the shoes!!! that color is divine.
ReplyDeleteCute shoes! And I understand the video game situation. C bought me Guitar Hero because he knows it's the only game I'll play with him. Hopefully he'll buy a Wii next time! Those games are so fun.
ReplyDeleteWe really want to get Mario Kart but can't find it in stock anywhere!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are great!
The shoes. They are amazing.
ReplyDeleteWait, there lives a world where you don't have to shop for items for your wedding? Where is this land?
ReplyDeleteI looove the shoes! I wish I could wear something fun like that, I'm jealous!
P.S. Get super mario galaxy & thank me later :)
The Wii is the only thing I can play with my husband and I love it :) You need to find yourself some Wii Fit to boot :)
ReplyDeleteWill you please borrow than mannquin's wig, too?
ReplyDeleteHeehee.
I WANT A WII!!!
ReplyDeleteNice shoes!! You can even wear those anytime after you get married. They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are perfect for you. I love it! And there's something slightly unnerving about that veil website, full of mannequins wearing veils. I shudder as I think about it!
ReplyDeleteI got my veil at Occansey as well (the veil at my bridal salon I wanted was $700!!!!). It worked out great. I actually had two veils- a long one for the ceremony and a short one for the reception.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see all of your wedding stuff on you!
ReplyDeleteYay for Wii! It's the best ever.
OMG, I LOVE Mario Kart. Seriously, we play it all the time (Ryan and I got a Wii as a wedding gift from all of his groomsmen!). It is the best game ever, although I really want to get the Wii Fit too...but like you, I'm not interested in paying more than retail, or in hunting for anything.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE your shoes. Apparently I LOVE everything today. Awesome. :-)
I agree that it's cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are beautiful, the veil is marvelous, and we have family bowling night with the Wii.
ReplyDeleteThat is cute about the wii. Our best friends have one and the bowling is SO MUCH FUN!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the shoes? LOVE them!
My husband loves the Wii because I will actually play with him. It's like, "You WANT to play video games? REALLY? With ME?" Very adorable.
ReplyDeletewe love our wii. we spend a lot of quality time playing games together, which is a lot of fun. the downside is we stay up too late at night playing, and it's hard to get up the next morning!
ReplyDeletethose shoes are fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are perfect! I am very jealous about the Wii. I really want the Wii Fit. In fact, I might be obsessed about getting it. But, like you, I don't want to pay more than it's worth and I won't line up for it.
ReplyDeleteLove! The shoes, not the Wii.
ReplyDeletemariocart is possibly the best game ever. that's all my husband and i play when we play video games (on a gamecube cuz we are so not up-to-date).
ReplyDeleteThose shoes kick ass. If they came in red, I'd consider them for the dress I already know I want. Weird, huh?
ReplyDeleteI love that Torsten wants to play the Wii with you! I'd have beamed all day if A. said something like that!
Fabulous shoes.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that IS cute. :)
LOVE my daughter's Wii! Everyone in the house plays it except my husband and the baby, though the baby tries really hard to dance on the DDR mat. You'll love it! I hope you get it!
ReplyDelete-F.P.
I think it's cute! L and I play mario cart all the time together! It's a lot of fun
ReplyDeleteThat IS sweet- around here that would a high compliment. Mario Kart is THE game to my husband and his friends, despite all the cooler stuff that's come out.
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes!!!
That is SO CUTE. Seriously. I can hear TB saying something along those lines so I know what you mean. Awwww!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for more wedding details being finished!
LOVE the shoes! Too cute.
ReplyDeleteI adore those shoes--super sexy! And the veil will be perfct. I am dying for the reveal of the full ensemble in the fall.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes! Love love LOVE!
ReplyDeleteAnd also? I love the Wii story, it's so Real.
xox
Yay for finding your perfect shoes. They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think it's cute that Torsten only wanted to get the Wii if you'd play with him. And Wii is so much fun!
Yes, it's sweet. :) Are you gonna get the Wii Fit stuff too? I was kind of on the fence about getting one, but now with the fitness programs and prospect of spending another winter almost entirely indoors......ugh. We're hoping to save up to get one by the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteOh - GREAT shoes!!
ok that mannequin is SCARY! but i like the veil : )
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are adorable - I say it's meant to be:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you love the shoes so! Are they comfortable?
ReplyDeleteI saw those shoes last weekend, not realizing that someone had recommended them to you, and I immediately thought of your wedding shoe search. But I ruled them out on your behalf remembering you didn't want anything too summery. Then I thought to myself what the hell, self? How weird is it that I am thinking about bloggy stuff more than shoes while shoe shopping?!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm so glad you found your perfect shoes! They are awesome.
Also, you will LOVE the Wii. My honey got an xbox a few years ago which I tried playing with her a few times and I pretty much hated it. We both absolutely love our Wii, and our Wii fit (both of which we lucked out and just happened to walk into a store that had them in stock - although we'd been looking for a wii fit for a couple of weeks when we stumbled across it). The xbox, on the other hand? Sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
Oh, we can be Wii buddies!! We are excited about Mario Kart as well; Hub and I used to stay up long in to the night having Mario Kart tournaments on the N64.
ReplyDeleteDefintely cute! Defintely! And the only way in HELL i'd allow one of those contraptions (yeah, like I lay down the law around here) in my house is if my hubby wanted to play it WITH me. Quality time baby. With ME! I sound a little controlish. Hmmm... Not so.
ReplyDeleteCute! I don't like video games but it sounds like something you guys can enjoy together. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the shoes and veil!
ahhh those shoes are just as cute as the first time i saw them... super awesome!!
ReplyDeletemuffin just got rock band on wii. i didn't even know there WAS rock band for wii, but there IS, and OMG SO FUN. am addicted to fake drumming.
I LOVE your wedding shoes! When (yes, when!!) I get married, I am so going for hot purple shoes. Screw the traditional white or cream!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys should totally get Wii Fit! We're hoping to get a Wii soon, and then Wii fit, so we can exercise whilst having fun! Yayayayyas!
Shoes are PERFECT! YAY!
ReplyDeleteAlso, my Fiance loves it when I play Wii with him, and Mario Kart is fun, you just have to get the hang of it. For me that was a long learning curve, but if you play the computer alone it gets easier. Also totally cute that he wants to share!
And just noticed your twitter about platinum. AHH! So frustrating!! I just found that too, looking for wedding rings.
Wow, those shoes are perfect! And so is the veil! And: Aww! Video games!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the shoes! and get the Wii! they're fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the shoes!
ReplyDeleteAnd the wii? You'll LOVE. But the Mario Kart? I'm absolutely obsessed with. I rented it and now need to find it and buy it. Haha, have fun!! =)
adorable, I love the shoes. And the Wii???? So exciting!!!! I know I should be more excited about your wedding, but hey... I'm a nerd.
ReplyDeleteWow it has been a big week! Love the shoes, adorable! Jealous about the Wii, I need to start playing one so I can become addicted and want one too.
ReplyDeleteI want a Wii, but it seems entirely silly to buy for myself when I live all alone. Torsten has the right idea. Also, I love that you're wearing purple shoes with your wedding dress. How perfect.
ReplyDeleteWii's are so much fun and a great workout!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those purple shoes!!
I think it's cute, too. :) And those are gorgeous wedding shoes. And the heel looks like it will be manageable no matter how long you're stuck in line shaking hands with everysinglepersonyou'veevermet. So. Beautiful and functional, ahhh shoe heaven.
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are adorable, I just love them. Great buy.
ReplyDeleteWe got the Wii last year about this time and I paid more than retail beause Nintendo sucks. Now I'm on the hunt for the Wii fit and I refuse to pay more than the regular selling price.
OMG those SHOES! what a way to spice up your dress. i LOVE them. sorry i've been MIA lately. finally catching up! (and excited to hear you're getting a wii. they are SO MUCH FUN! if you need game suggestions lemme know) ;)
ReplyDeleteFound your post via a weddingbee blog comment. I'm planning a purple wedding and have been on the search for purple shoes...and found none that are within my price range and none with a low heel. I love those shoes. Were they comfortable to wear for a long period of time?
ReplyDeleteHey! I'm on the hunt for a pair just like these... in purple. Where did you find them? I just looked them up and I can find them places like nordstrom, but not in purple..... I really really love them..... Any help would be great! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous--I bought mine at Nordstrom, actually, and like you said, they don't seem to be available in purple there anymore. I checked all the usual sites and I don't see them in purple anywhere else either. Maybe eBay? Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
