Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to post about the wedding again for a few days, but someone requested screen shots of the wedding website, and apparently I'm a sucker for personal requests, so here I am, breaking my own word. Let's just consider this post an extension of the last post, shall we?
Now, I have to explain. Over the weekend, I created the first website:
Then, just today, I was reading the terms and conditions and discovered that the site was a two-week trial of the premium version, and that after two weeks, we would either have to pay $89 to have the website for a year or lose 80% of the features, including hotel information, registry information, and the photo gallery.
So I created the second website. I'm a little grumpy about it because I liked the first template a little better, especially because the subpages showed little versions of the photos from the gallery below the navigation bar. However, rotating thumbnails are certainly not worth $89. So, I give you the second, and real, site:
What do you all think?

This recipe sounded delicious to me when I came across it, and it turned

That is so, SO cool! I LOVE YOU, INTERNET AGE!
ReplyDeletelove both!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think it is awesome, and that is a perfect photo for the site. SO SWEET.
ReplyDeleteyay! i love that even your website is purple :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!! It's amazing that even 5 years ago this stuff wasn't that advanced.
ReplyDeleteI think it's super pretty. I have a website too and I always look at it :) Also, found two comments from you in spam! So weird, but I fixed it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a wedding website. My cousin did one for his wedding just 2 years ago and it was new to me then.
ReplyDeleteYours looks so pretty!
I love the second one... and $89 is too much to pay for all the bells and whistles. People just want how you met, the logistical information and some cute photos to peruse.
ReplyDeleteThanks for humoring me!!!!
That looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like it--and I prefer the second one.
ReplyDeletewell hello :)
ReplyDeleteboth are gorgeous. i think i'm partial to the second one, though, appearance wise! i just love the white with the lavender (wisteria? light purple? purple mountains majesty? i loved my 96 box of crayola crayons) accents. the little extra features with the first sound great ... but like you said, $89 great? we think not!
your finance and you are a beautiful couple :)

It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNow that I look at these two screenshots again, I actually really like the second one, the one you weren't sure of! I love it.
ReplyDeleteit looks great! i'm really digging the purple!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool. I'm jealous- either this stuff wasn't around four years ago when we got married, or I was too lame to notice.
ReplyDeleteI love it Jess. I think it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful, you're obviously very talented.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the second one. Its so cute! And the purple is a wonderful tone. Pretty pretty.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to throw in mah two cents for the discussion about registering. When we got married we decided to register for stuff we liked but would never spend money on... like really nice crystal wine glasses, but also for a kitchen aid mixer (love it love it love it!), and laptop computer. So we had a range of gifts from 20bucks to well over a thousand. We got a laptop- but there were 10 people that got together to buy it. Since we had lots of friends and family coming from abroad we also said checks would be fine or gift cards- since those are easier to travel with :p
So I guess my advice is -just do it all, and let people figure out what they want to do!
Jess, if you don't mind me asking (because I'm basically computer illiterate when it comes to this stuff), how did you create the website? Is there a site that you do it through? I really need to set one of these up.
ReplyDeleteAnd btw I love the second one!
ImpossibleGermany--there are lots of different websites that offer free wedding website service, all set up with different pages to create (like "our story," "accommodations," etc.) and lots of different templates to choose from. You do not have to know anything about web design or anything like that to do it. If you Google "free wedding website" you will see tons of options. Just make sure to read the terms and make sure that it's really free!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Definitely as good, if not better, than the first (ridiculously expensive) one.
ReplyDeleteLove them both!
ReplyDeleteWe had ours through eweddings.com and we paid $9.95 a month for as long as we wanted.
